Monsplasty in Orange County | Beautify All Areas of Your Body
In plastic surgery, the “tummy” generally refers to the abdominal area. That is why tummy tucks address the fat and skin in and around the abdomen. But for the average person, the tummy isn’t defined medically. It’s the front of the body below the chest before the legs, and all areas around that part of your body can be affected by weight gain, pregnancy, age, and more.
Right below the abdomen connected to the pubic bone is an area of fatty tissue known as the “mons pubis.” Like other parts of the body, it is prone to gaining weight, sagging, and stretching over time, and those changes can make many women feel very self-conscious, especially when wearing bikinis or engaging in intimacy. Many of our patients wish to have this area corrected at the same time as a tummy tuck or occasionally by itself via a procedure known as a “monsplasty.”
What is a Monsplasty?
A monsplasty is similar to a tummy tuck, and other lifts, but focused around the pubic area. This is one of the reasons it is often called a “pubic lift.” It is specifically for women that find that their mons pubis has started to sag, with excess skin that is causing them discomfort, self-consciousness and possibly affecting urination or intercourse.
The procedure is not unlike other surgical lifts, requiring very careful incisions, a steadier hand, and an understanding of mons pubis beauty in order to effectively shape and contour the mons pubis into a more aesthetically pleasing shape.
During monsplasty, Dr. Agha:
- Remove mons skin and fat through a horizontally positioned elliptical incision at the upper edge of the pubic region.
- Lifts the mons pubis area as he closes this elliptical incision.
- Liposuctions and removes excess mons fat.
Combined, the procedure lifts the mons and sculpts it into a more desirable position and shape, making it lifted and more natural looking. Afterward, you will need to wear a protective support panty to help ensure recovery, and in a few days you’ll be able to resume normal activities (although strenuous activities should be avoided for 3 to 6 weeks). Our Orange County monsplasty surgery has provided many women with a better shaped mons pubis, and a more confident sense of self.
Is an Orange County Monsplasty Right for You?
Monsplasty is best for those with sagging skin and tissue of the pubic area that needs to be removed. Those with a large mons pubis but no excess skin may want to consider mons pubis liposuction, which we also provide here at the Aesthetic Centers of OC. This procedure can also be combined with other popular vaginal plastic surgery procedures, such as labiaplasty, or can be a part of a tummy tuck for those looking to work on their entire midsection. Dr. Agha is a firm believer that the tummy and mons both need to be corrected at the time of a tummy tuck. While the standard tummy tuck procedures fail to correct for mons laxity, a low-cut high-definition tummy tuck has monsplasty built into the surgery and thus creates flat mons and abdomen that are on one plane.
At the Aesthetic Centers of OC, we are more than happy to talk to you about what’s involved in the monsplasty or high-definition tummy tuck procedures, as well as determine whether or not you are a good candidate. Dr. Agha can perform a monsplasty on its own or combined with a tummy tuck to perform 2 procedures through one incision. Our office is located in Newport Beach, California, which makes us in a great location for those all over Orange County and Los Angeles, including Anaheim, Irvine, Santa Ana, and Huntington Beach.
